- ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆January 24, 2020, by Vicky SimpsonI came to is salon though Living Social Coupon for a Brazilian Blowout. I have had two of these before from other stylist. Soon as I got here she was talking about upcharging me another $50 for the use of more product on my hair (long, on the thick side). She did the procedure but didn't rinse at the end as the others have done. I asked her about this and she said that would be an extra charge. Really, to rinse chemicals out of my hair. Thought that is what I was paying for. She didn't trim my hair either, that is extra. I contacted my regular stylist back in TX and she couldn't believe this stylist didn't rinse my hair. That can ruin your hair so you better be sure to rinse yourself as soon as possible. This stylist said she normally charges close to $300 on up for this. Hope that includes a rinse and cut. Guess the $130 coupon is only a partial payment in her eyes. I will not be going back here again. By the way, I paid between $150-200 for my first two blowouts without a coupon and they did trim and rinse, live and learn.
- ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆March 01, 2019, by nn obgot a good heavy blonde highlight result from the owner. unfortunately my hair got a bit sizzled in the process my hair base is a honey blonde and i had both older (all over) and newer (6 months old crown only) highlights. i went in for a highlight consult before i bought a groupon to assess experience. i thought the consult could have been MUCH stronger but i felt comfortable enough that she knew what she was doing. she wrapped a full head, processed with heat (but would have preferred to process without heat given we were bleaching on bleach--never a good idea), washed, conditioned, cut and styled in about 2.5+ hours which is about standard in a busy salon but fast for a personally owned one (IMHO). the pros: * it was mostly a quiet service (i hate smalltalk) * it was a quick but pretty precise wrap (thought it could have been foiled much closer to scalp) * i got a full head, cut, and style for $60 with groupon * i got the color and cut result i wanted and i'm a super picky client the cons: * the heat developed foils was WWWAAAYYYY too aggressive for already base color lightened and bleach highlight processed hair. i was told my hair condition was excellent (client service selling/securing business??) which due to extreme care is good considering the color, but its certainly not excellent full of color and some bleach. and is certainly not virgin hair ready for a 30-45 minutes of a HOT HOT drier in aluminum foil, a big heat conductor on its own. i think a good colorist will take a more conservative approach on non virgin hair and error on the side of caution until he or she sees results at least once. i'm now treating it with kid gloves, protein treatments 1x week and moisturizing deep conditioner 2x a week with very minimal heat styling. my hair strand are much thinner now, isn't brittle but its def breaking and snapping and the cuticle is hayrwire and jagged, not smooth at all anymore. one should expect some wear and tear after bleach but i'm convinced the high heat processing put my hair over the edge. i should have spoken up and put my foot down but with a spot on colorist, one shouldn't have to. * they don't quote a service price upfront which included no mention of a $10 extra product charge * i asked for sliced foils and i got weaved. when i asked she why are we weaving them, she said that with a week old root regrowth that slicing would look bad (i disagree because slicing is the way i like them done). i thought her advice sharing could have been handled better, but i let it go * i didn't want my ends bleached (i was willing to deal with reverse "hombre"), though she did reduce the peroxide at the ends with a 2nd mixture, it was still touching the higher mixture at midshaft, given the way she foiled) * the owner had a tendency to complain about her staff and about not being able to find good talent (true but unprofessional to me). besides that, which i could live with, this tells me that i would never use another person in her salon if she weren't available (not good for her business) the owner, as should be expected, was diligent about product (shampoo, conditioner, shine emollient) and service upsells (glaze, toner, deep conditioner) and i didn't want any of it. while i understand this, i don't buy salon product (EVER) as i get it at wholesale so at first i just didn't respond but eventually i said i have more product than i could ever use in a lifetime and that even if i weren't, that i'm on a tight budget. but she continued to push when it would have been more appropriate to concede on the extras to push up the cost total. the owner is going to do things her way if you let her. if you're ok with that, then good, if you're an input and very hair tech knowledgeable client such as myself, you're going to get resistance. overall, the service itself was good, the customer service was soso but i would go back for either a cut or color and i would insist upfront no product and service upselling
